In early February, just as “Avatar” became the highest-grossing movie in U.S. box-office history, News Corp. top dog Rupert Murdoch announced that Fox had held “very early talks about” a sequel to James Cameron’s sci-fi love story. More than two weeks later, Cameron tells MTV News he’s still waiting to sort out those contractual details before committing to a return to the motion-captured world of Pandora.
“I’ve got some deal hurdles I got to get over with the studio before I want to emotionally embrace that,” the writer/director said.
Declining to elaborate about the specific obstacles — not compensation-related, he assured us — Cameron nonetheless said all parties involved expect a deal to be signed at some point down the road.
“[Sequel details have] never properly been worked out, let me put it that way,” he said. “But everyone’s highly motivated. Rupert Murdoch told us we were doing it, so now they have to make a deal.”
During the Wednesday interview, Cameron also confirmed what he’s been telling us since December: that the sequel will pick up after the events of the first film — spoiler alert! — when Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) permanently transfers his consciousness to his Na’vi avatar and begins a new life with Princess Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) after they defeat the human colonizers.
“It would be a continuation of their story and I expect that those nasty humans didn’t go away forever: ‘Oh, well that didn’t work!’ ” he said.
For now, though, Cameron adamantly refuses to say whether a second “Avatar” will be his next feature film project as a director. He’s got his hands in a number of other creative ventures and will soon jet off to Australia for work on “Sanctum,” a 3-D underwater cave-diving tale that he’s producing.
“I’m sort of reacquainting with a bunch of projects that are non-theatrical film projects, like space stuff and ocean stuff,” Cameron said. “But yeah, I’m thinking about what the next feature will be and another ‘Avatar’ film is a strong possibility.”

It seems like “The Losers” just can’t sit still. Following Warner Bros. Pictures’ announcement that the film would transition from its original April 9 release date to a later June opening, the studio has now shifted the film back to an April 23 premiere.
The move was reportedly intended to keep “The Losers” from closely competing with the action-oriented “Clash of the Titans,” which would be playing its second weekend in theaters. Additionally, the June move was intended to provide the studio with ample time to make corrections based on audience feedback from test screenings.
Apparently those changes won’t take as long to make as initially expected, meaning Warner Bros. is returning “The Losers” to April, even if the new date is still a few weeks later than first planned.

Zoe Saldana used to dress like a “Sci-Fi geek”.
The ‘Avatar’ actress says she has always been in to fashion and used to experiment with her look while she was growing up.
She said: “In high school I was a little bit of everything. Sometimes I would want to dress like a cheerleader or like a mean girl or the Sci-Fi geek that I usually was. It all depended on my mood, but I always knew that I loved fashion.”
Zoe, 31, says her love of clothes stems from her mother, who always encouraged her to take pride in her appearance.
She said: “My mum is from the Caribbean so her advice has always been incorporate colour in your wardrobe. I always end up dressing in black and white – the New York state of mind. But I really do try to listen to my mom’s advice.”
The ‘Star Trek’ beauty also revealed she is a huge fan of up-and-coming designer Prabal Gurung, after seeing his show at New York Fashion Week.
She told People magazine: “I just went to the Prabal Gurung show and I was absolutely smitten by all their clothes. I was absolutely thrown back by his beautiful collection. There was definitely this black dress that he had with a leather belt and I went crazy for it. I was like, ‘I must have that!’ ”

Nickelodeon will be celebrating it’s 23rd annual Kids Choice Awards show on March 27 in Los Angeles and Zoe has been nominated in the “Favorite Movie Actress” category!

Zoe Saldana hosted the launch of fashion Web site MyFDB.com at Meatpacking District club SL Saturday night. Short for My Fashion Database, the site provides subscribers with contact information for photographers, stylists, makeup artists and designers. “This site is so much better than going on Google and going all over the place,” said Saldana, who consulted.
Saldana said she wouldn’t be able to coordinate red-carpet looks without her stylist, who is helping her find a dress for the Oscars. “Acting is my department,” she reasoned. “Why not let someone whose job it is to pick out clothes, pick out clothes? I can’t do my own hair and makeup, either.”
