Actress Zoe Saldana says the most important thing she looks for in a man are a nice pair of hands and a sensitive soul.

‘I love men’s hands, not just nice, manicured hands. I feel as though hands say a lot about you and your history. There’s something very abrasively fragile about a man’s hands,’ femalefirst.co.uk quoted her as saying.

The ‘Avatar’ star also finds sensitive men very attractive, adding: ‘I mean I’m not saying I love a man who cries, but I think that can be very sexy’.

Zoe Saldana Engaged to Fashion Biz BeauJune 30th, 2010

It’s safe to say Zoe Saldana has the “something blue” requirement all taken care of.

The Avatar star is engaged to her boyfriend of roughly 10 years (how’s that for a lesson in keeping your private life under wraps?), My Fashion Database CEO Keith Britton.

So that’s the fabulous wedding gown covered, then.

“She is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Keith Britton,” Saldana’s rep confirmed to E! News.

Staying true to her low-key form, no details of the engagement have emerged.

Earlier this year, the actress opened up to Glamour about her longtime beau and ever supportive boyfriend fiancé.

“Well, it’s not like he sits around waiting,” she said of her hectic shooting schedules. “We travel a lot, which keeps things alive. We’re very private. It’s worked for 10 years—long enough to go to hell and back.”

And while it’s unclear when the proposal took place, it seems like the question-popping may not have caught Saldana totally off guard. When asked by the mag where she saw herself in another decade, she revealed the following:

“I want to be the best daughter, sister, friend and wife I can possibly be.”

There’s no word yet on a possible wedding date, though given her non-chatty track record, we won’t hold our breath. Whenever it happens, it’ll mark the first trip down the aisle for the 32-year-old actress and 33-year-old business whiz. Congrats, you two!

Zoe Saldana Happy To Be A Role ModelJune 28th, 2010

Zoe Saldana finds it a “privilege” to be a role model for women.

The ‘Avatar’ actress feels lucky that females look up to her and she wants to show them women can do whatever they want without having to conform to society’s expectations.

She said: “I guess I’m a role model now, and that is a privilege. I think women were fighting because we wanted to be feminine. Then we had to be masculine. Now we just want to be us.”

While she is now a role model for other women, Zoe says she used to look up to her grandmother when she was younger, especially when it came to fashion.

She told Style magazine: “I love fashion. My grandmother and great-grandmother were seamstresses, so I know fashion on an artistic level, not as labels, labels, labels.

“My grandmother, if she wore here, would touch your dress, look at the seam. She was obsessed with buttons. She’d take off my shoes and say, ‘This is good leather, a good investment.’ ”

Zoe Saldana, Ryan Reynolds, Anna Kendrick: Newly Minted Oscar VotersJune 25th, 2010
Filed in News

It doesn’t take an Avatar to become an Oscar insider. But a few hit movies help.

By that count, Zoe Saldana, Ryan Reynolds and Anna Kendrick have had a pretty good year, enough to earn them invitations to become voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Which means no more waiting in long lines at the movie theater; instead they’ll be getting them all for free thanks to the deluge of DVD Oscar screeners.

This year’s class is comprised of 135 artists and executives noted for their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Among actors, joining Kendrick at the ballot box will also be her Up In the Air costar Vera Farmiga, along with Tony Soprano himself, Mr. James Gandolfini, Adam Sandler, Carey Mulligan, Inglourious Basterds’ Christoph Waltz, Mo’Nique and Gabourey Sidibe of Precious fame, Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner, and The Lovely Bones’ Saoirse Ronan and Tobin Bell, aka Jigsaw from the Saw movies.

Also on the roster are a bevy of directors, among them Lee Daniels (Precious) and Adam Shankman (Hairspray); writers Neill Blomkamp (District 9), Roberto Orci (Star Trek) and Nick Hornby (An Education) and a funky cast of composers, among them U2′s Bono and The Edge (Gangs of New York) and T-Bone Burnett (Crazy Heart).

Of course, there are also producers, including Avatar’s Jon Landau, studio executives like Relativity Media’s Ryan Kavanaugh, documentarians like Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) and Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) as well as editors, animators, make-up artists and a host of technical wizards from the visual effects field, and even people drawn from PR.

With the latest batch of invitees, there are now a total of just under 6,000 voting members in the Academy.
