Besting over fellow nominees Catherine Keener, Melanie Laurent, Alison Lohman, Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron, the Neytiri depicter was honored with Best Actress title.
The “Death at a Funeral” actress is not the only cast member of “Avatar” who managed to score a win, though. It also landed Best Music for James Horner, Best Production Design and Best Special Effects.
In the television category, “Lost” dominated the field with two three wins. It nailed Best Television Series, Best Actor on Television for Josh Holloway and Best DVD Television Release. “Breaking Bad”, in the meantime, got two Golden Scrolls for Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series and Best Supporting Actor on Television, which went to Aaron Paul.
The 36th annual Saturn Awards also recognized excellence in home entertainment (DVD) and stage presentation. | Zoe Saldana Receives Acting Award | June 1st, 2010 |
Zoe Saldana has been awarded the MaxMara ‘Face Of The Future’ at the 2010 Crystal & Lucy Awards, which celebrates women in film.
The ‘Avatar’ star couldn’t reveal her secrets for success, but she thanks her mother for her support.
The 31-year-old said: “I wish I could point to one thing that helped make me successful, but I can’t. Either I’m spending time looking at myself or I’m out there doing.
“I can tell you what I do not think are the keys to success: Fame is not a key to success. And so is not working. When I’m not working, I’m a mess! I’m one of those people who can’t interact in the world of normalcy. I have to go to work to make me feel normal.
“I learned all of this from my mother, who is not attached to anything material. She didn’t grow up in a capitalist society, so she always knew that to be happy you have to live today because tomorrow may be gone. She did teach us to have goals, but to not be obsessed, so you can live your life to the fullest. I have never known what I wanted – but I have always known what I didn’t want to do.”

| Zoe Saldana eyes role as assassin in ‘Colombiana’ | May 18th, 2010 |
Zoe Saldana is in early negotiations to star in “Colombiana,” a drama that Luc Besson is producing under his Europa Corp. The project is slated for late-summer start with Olivier Megaton (“Transporter 3″) directing.
Written by Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, “Colombiana” is set in Latin America and the U.S. Saldana would play a young woman who, after witnessing her parents’ murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. She works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the mobster responsible for her parents’ death.
Saldana soared to fame in the past year by starring in “Avatar” and “Star Trek.” Her other recent credits include “The Losers” and “Death at a Funeral.”
The actress, repped by ICM and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, next stars in Screen Gems’ “Takers.”
