| Zoe Saldana ‘Can’t Stop Crying’ From ‘Avatar’ | December 12th, 2009 |
“Avatar” cost over $300 million to make, but star Zoe Saldana tells “Extra” the film is much more than incredible computer effects.
“Besides all the technology and the talk about the politics, the political message or about how overly excessive the budget was, it’s still an amazing love story,” Saldana, 31, tells “Extra” at the world premiere of the film in London.
Saldana says that at the heart of the sci-fi thriller is a classic James Cameron love story. She confessed, “I can’t stop crying, the first time I saw it.”
She adds, “The moment you sit down and watch it, you will be taken for a ride.”

| Zoe Saldana Reveals The Secrets Behind Her ‘Avatar’ Alien | December 8th, 2009 |
James Cameron digs love stories between people from different cultures thrust together in strange territory. That’s true of his star-crossed “Titanic” twosome and the alien/human pair he’s been putting together for more than a decade in “Avatar.”
What does it take to create a convincing romance between two species from different planets? In MTV’s live-stream chat with Cameron and the “Avatar” cast, star Zoe Saldana gave us insight into how they created the character of Neytiri, the big blue alien who initially resists an amorous connection to the alien avatar controlled by human Jake Sully (Sam Worthington).
“She’s like a big kid,” Saldana said. “That’s the one thing we realized.”
| Zoe Saldana Loves Sexy Stunts | December 8th, 2009 |
Zoe Saldana thinks stunts are sexy.
The ‘Avatar’ actress is inspired by Angelina Jolie and Jessica Biel and loves getting to grips with the action scenes in her movies.
She said: “I have the itch lately. I don’t know if it is after ‘Avatar’ or ‘Star Trek’ or because I’ve just finished an action film called ‘The Losers’, in which I did almost all my own stunts. I think it’s so empowering and sexy.
“I love actresses like Angelina and Jessica. They’re very agile, they incorporate their bodies with their characters and they pick women who are very strong. I really dig that.”
Zoe also credits Angelina, Salma Hayek and Halle Berry for opening up more options to female actresses.
She added in an interview with Esquire magazine: “Before them, women were just sex pots or mothers. They were never the heroes who saved the day. They’ve enabled a generation of actresses to have a bigger variety of roles.
“If I wanted to be part of a story that is amazing and had a lot of sexual openness, that’s fine. But I am so grateful to know that, like them, I can open different doors for women.”
