| Zoe Saldana Receives Acting Award | June 1st, 2010 |
Zoe Saldana has been awarded the MaxMara ‘Face Of The Future’ at the 2010 Crystal & Lucy Awards, which celebrates women in film.
The ‘Avatar’ star couldn’t reveal her secrets for success, but she thanks her mother for her support.
The 31-year-old said: “I wish I could point to one thing that helped make me successful, but I can’t. Either I’m spending time looking at myself or I’m out there doing.
“I can tell you what I do not think are the keys to success: Fame is not a key to success. And so is not working. When I’m not working, I’m a mess! I’m one of those people who can’t interact in the world of normalcy. I have to go to work to make me feel normal.
“I learned all of this from my mother, who is not attached to anything material. She didn’t grow up in a capitalist society, so she always knew that to be happy you have to live today because tomorrow may be gone. She did teach us to have goals, but to not be obsessed, so you can live your life to the fullest. I have never known what I wanted – but I have always known what I didn’t want to do.”

| Zoe Saldana Swears So Much Because She Has “No Class” | June 1st, 2010 |
The 31-year-old actress is renowned for her dirty mouth, and loves using swear words.
She insists there is nothing wrong with the way she speaks because everyone from her New York neighbourhood sounds exactly the same.
“What, a potty mouth? Oh baby I’m from Queen’s New York! There’s no class here unless I purposely access it,” Zoë laughed.
While she admits she loves using naughty words, Zoë insists she doesn’t do so out of anger. Instead, she finds obscenities to be the only way to properly express herself when she is shocked or impressed.
“I don’t really use cussing while I’m mad,” she explained to Irish film website movies.ie. “If anything, when I’m mad, I tend to spell out my curse words.
“It is more when something has really touched me. I’m more likely to say something like ‘That is so f**king amazing.’”

| Saldana: Dance helped my career | May 29th, 2010 |
Zoe Saldana believes her classical dance background helped launch her movie career.
The 31-year-old Avatar star trained for 11 years as a child and despite wanting to stop, she said it helped her get the starring role as a ballet dancer in the 2000 film Centre Stage.
Zoe told the Daily Mirror: “I was a classical dancer for 11 years. I went to boarding school in the Caribbean even though I was born in New York. So when I came back to the US, I was graduating from high school and didn’t want to dance any more. My mom gave me a year off, but I took two. Then I started auditioning, doing commercials and little plays.”
She continued: “I was doing a play and a manager was watching the show and I got signed up. You go from Burger King commercials to a Coca-Cola campaign to Law And Order. Every New York actor does Law And Order.
“From there, I was booked for a movie called Centre Stage. If it had not been for my ballet background, that would have never have happened.
“That was the first vehicle that got me an agent and then, you know, Uhura in Star Trek. Now I’m here. I can’t believe it myself sometimes!”
The Crossroads star, who will next be seen in action movie The Loser, about an elite US Special Forces unit who are betrayed while on an operation in Bolivia, still can’t believe her luck.
She said: “I’ve only ever wanted to be able to pay my bills. Now that directors and producers are asking to work with me, it’s pretty amazing.”

| Zoe Saldana feels “sexy” working with men | May 26th, 2010 |
Zoe Saldana – who stars in the action movie with Jason Patric, Chris Evans and Jeffrey Dean Morgan – insists she never feels she is missing out by having no female company on set with her as she loves action movies so much.
She told The Independent newspaper: “I love working with boys, and I probably do that more than most actresses. I got to do it on ‘Star Trek’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and now ‘The Losers’.
“It just makes me feel sexy, I guess. And these kinds of films – sci-fi and action – with all male crews are just the kind of films I want to make. I love girls, don’t get me wrong. But, as a woman, to get to play rough characters gives me a lot of freedom and versatility. “I like holding the gun and participating in saving the day because I think it’s really sexy.” However, the ‘Avatar’ star admits being the only woman in the cast has its drawbacks.
She explained: “I almost feel like you have twice as much work to do because you don’t want to be singled out. “You’re already the only girl, so if you’re the one who says, ‘I can’t do this,’ it’s going to be like, ‘She’s wimping out because she’s a girl,’ so I toughed it out. I wanted to impress the guys.”

| The Hottest Chicks of the Summer Flicks | May 12th, 2010 |
Whew. After reading Iron Man 2 critic reviews about this time last week, we were concerned it might be as lousy as Spider-Man 3. Then we saw it and it was pretty cool. But it got us thinking: What if Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Leslie Bibb, and the rest of the Iron Man 2 hotties weren’t in the movie? What if it was 2 hours of iron suits, bad guys, and exposition? Bo-ring.
So with that profound thought we present the rest of the hotties we’re looking forward to in Summer 2010.
