| Zoe says her roles have aged her 10 years. | July 17th, 2011 |
Actress Zoe Saldana’s action-packed movie roles are taking their toll — the star admits her body feels like it’s aged a decade since working on 2009′s “Avatar.”
Saldana is quickly becoming the go-to girl in Hollywood for hard-hitting action parts after her energetic work in James Cameron’s motion capture masterpiece.
She has recently wrapped “Colombiana,” in which she plays a steely assassin, but despite her athletic abilities, the 33-year-old reveals it’s becoming harder for her to bounce back from strenuous work on set.
She tells Total Film, “I always go home looking like a map. That’s what my mom tells me because I have black and blue all over the place. But I’m addicted to the adrenaline of being a physical person. That said, I’m entering the consciousness of mortality. With Avatar I was fine; I’d get hurt, I’d get up, I’d brush it off and keep going. But my body feels like it’s aged 10 years. It can’t reboot as quickly.
Regardless if she feels that way, she still looks amazing!
| James Cameron confirms two ‘Avatar’ sequels | October 28th, 2010 |
James Cameron has revealed that he will shoot two Avatar sequels back to back, releasing them in 2014 and 2015. The director has said that the next two adventures will be an “epic journey” – and will once again star Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, reports The Independent.
Like the first movie, both films will be shot in 3D.
Cameron said: “With two new films on the drawing boards, my company and I are embarking on an epic journey with our partners at Twentieth Century Fox. Our goal is to meet and exceed the global audience’s expectations for the richness of Avatar’s’ visual world and the power of the storytelling.”
Chiefs at Twentieth Century Fox had previous said that getting Cameron to make a sequel to the most successful movie of all time was a “high priority” for the studio.
A spokesperson for Fox said: “Avatar is not only the highest-grossing movie of all time, it is a created universe based on the singular imagination and daring of James Cameron, who also raised the consciousness of people worldwide to some of the greatest issues facing our planet.
“We had no higher priority, and can feel no greater joy, than enabling Jim to continue and expand his vision of the world of Avatar. This is a great day in the history of our company.”

| Zoe Saldana Talks Fashion With MyFDB | October 15th, 2010 |
The lovely, Zoë Saldana has always been a long time supporter of MyFDB, so we were extra thrilled with the opportunity to dive into her fashion forward thoughts. The actress and model has shot to stardom with leading roles in films such as, Avatar and Star Trek. Not to mention, she was recently named the face of Calvin Klein’s Envy Underwear line and continues to grace magazine covers. We enjoyed getting to know Zoë and her killer fashion sense better.
Since you’re a red carpet regular, what are your favorite go-to designers?
For red carpet looks, I tend to go with more dramatic designers, Givenchy, Alaia, Christian Lacroix and Calvin Klein. These have been the designers that have caught my eye this year.
What has been your favorite red carpet outfit thus far?
I have to say the Givenchy dress I wore to the Oscar’s has been by far the most amazing dress I have worn.
What trends or fashion staples are you currently coveting?
I’ve been really into the leather jackets. My favorites are my leather L’Agence and a linen olive green Max Mara jacket.
Explain the process of how you became the face of Calvin Klein’s Envy Underwear line?
Calvin Klein has been such an all-American staple for me. I love what Francisco does every year with his clean lines. His designs allow the woman in you to shine through. I have been wearing his dresses a lot this year- so when they asked me to be the face of their underwear line I was very honored.
Out of all of the photo shoots you’ve done, which ones have been the most memorable and why?
They have all been memorable because they are all so different. Photographers are like designers, they have their own vision and approach to fashion.
Is there anyone you’d like to co-design a dress or a line with?
Prabal Gurung has been a very good friend for many years. I am in awe of the way he has carried himself and his designs recently. It would be amazing to collaborate with him.
Lastly, what advice do you have for aspiring fashion industry hopefuls?
My advice for them is to never lose their vision. Our personal interpretation of art is what defines us and distinguishes us from each other. I think we should always stay true to that.
Now let’s have some fun…QUICK, Word Association time! Tell us the first thing that pops into your head when you hear:

| Zoe Saldana story: From Nine to Neytiri | September 14th, 2010 |
Avatar actress Zoe Saldana has tried to serve us a slice of her childhood days as she recalls how her mother made selfless sacrifices to ensure that her children get to fulfil their dreams. Zoe’s father passed away when Zoe was merely 9 and hence her mother had to shoulder all the responsibilities.
Hailing her mom, Zoe cites, “My mother is my hero. She sacrificed herself so we could study and fulfil our dreams, always advising us to uphold wholesome values, love and family.” It was her mom who left their New York home and took them to their birthplace in Dominic Republic so that they could be brought up well.
Zoe also professes her admiration for director James Cameron and gleefully appreciates her casting in Avatar as Princess Neytiri. Lavishing heaps of applause on James, she gushes, “They chose me right away, the first one in the cast. I didn’t know what to expect but I was totally thrilled because I’ve always held James Cameron in great esteem. I think it’s ingenious how, even in films with spectacular special effects, he always manages to include the human side and a positive message. Also he has brought wonderful female characters to the screen, like Linda Hamilton in ‘The Terminator’ and Sigourney Weaver in ‘Aliens’.”
Hopefully, in future, Zoe shall be portraying more such stronger feminine characters.
